The power couple showed off their incredible combined 110lb weight loss during the Grammys on Sunday night – the result of an extreme plant-based diet.
Basically, if it’s green – you eat it.
Duetting on a raunchy version of Beyonce’s Drunk in Love, the loved-up pair looked slim and toned having shed 70lbs (her) and 40lbs (him) over six months.
Their programme even included an uber-intense 22 days on plant-based foods only. Yum.
While Beyonce wanted to regain her pre-baby body following the birth of Blue Ivy, now two, her 44-year-old hubby joined in to offer moral support.
The pair embarked on their new vegan lifestyle after taking advice from their personal trainer, Marco Borges.
While Bey, 32, upped her running and dancing sessions the hip-hop supremo began hitting the gym and using “power moves”.
The new technique involves incorporating joints into workouts, so both were given programmes working shoulders, hips, elbows and knees.
Diet-wise the Crazy in Love couple were barred from eating red meat, replacing it with fish, and switched pasta for quinoa.
As if that wasn’t hardcore enough, earlier this month they also went on a 22-day vegan diet.
Their menu included a plant-based breakfast every day and a vegetable smoothie for lunch. Snacks were edamame beans and cucumbers sprinkled with vinegar, cayenne pepper and lemon.
After flaunting her new shape on stage, Irreplaceable star Bey – who has since lost a further 5lbs – said: “I was very aware of the fact that I was showing my body.
“I was 195lbs when I gave birth, and lost 65lbs. I worked crazily to get my body back. I wanted to show that you can have a child and you can work hard and you can get your body back.”
Beyoncé and Jay-Z reportedly lost a combined 110 pounds after undergoing an “extreme” three-week vegan diet in December 2013, the Mirror reported.
Fans were stunned when a dramatically thinner Beyoncé took the stage alongside husband Jay-Z during their performance of “Drunk in Love” at the 2014 Grammy Awards.
Beyonce looked as stunning as ever, but raised eyebrows for her slimmed-down frame, causing fans to comment on Twitter that she had taken her weight loss too far.
“So nobody is gonna point out how skinny Beyoncé is now?” one fan wrote on Twitter. Another fan added: “I don’t think I like Beyoncé that skinny, but I guess that’s what she wants.”
Numerous media reports claim Beyonce and Jay-Z have lost a combined 110 pounds following their “extreme” 22-day plant-based diet.
It’s unclear exactly where the 110 pounds came from, since neither Beyonce nor Jay-Z were overweight before starting their vegan-diet challenge. And if either of them had lost 50 pounds each, they would look skeletal and malnourished (and they don’t).
In December 2013, Jay-Z cited a desire for a “physical and spiritual cleanse” for why he decided to cut meat and animal products out of his diet for three weeks.
Meanwhile, the 5-foot-7 Beyonce recently revealed that she weighed 195 pounds while pregnant, and lost 65 pounds shortly afterward by following a strict diet and working out several days a week combining cardio exercise with strength-training.
“I was 195 pounds when I gave birth,” she said. “I lost 65 pounds. I worked crazily to get my body back.” Beyonce’s trainer, Marco Borges, said Beyonce typically eats one vegan meal a day to maintain her weight loss.
“She eats one vegan meal a day, because this typically gets people to eat more greens than they normally would,” said Borges.
